The Ryzen 9000X3D ‘3D V-Cache’ desktop CPUs from AMD that offer a considerable boost when it comes to the cache size and further performance enhancements have seen some delays currently aimed at CES 2025. With this delay, gamers and enthusiasts waiting for AMD’s next-generation 3D V-Cache technology will have to wait longer for the expected performance increase.

More About the Delay in AMD Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs

While AMD had never officially confirmed a launch date for Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs, the updated timeline was passed on to more motherboard manufacturers. This change really is a big one, as it would leave all those looking for top-end gaming performance with the impression that AMD has shifted on what its plans were for these new CPUs.

There has been a bit of controversy about the recent release of the Ryzen 9000 “Zen 5” CPUs. There are those who liked the overall performance of these cards but were mildly disappointed when real-world performances did not completely correspond to AMD’s claimed benchmarks. Subsequently, AMD went back and revised its testing methodology only to realize the Ryzen 9000 performs on par with Intel’s upcoming 14th Gen processors. The Ryzen 9000X3D series should therefore be a welcome upgrade for those who want more performance.

ASUS may have already revealed the Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs during its X870E/X870 motherboard launch and has since removed said references. Nevertheless, AMD is not giving up on its 3D V-Cache strategy for this year. The company is preparing to release the Ryzen 5 5500X3D for the AM4 platform and the Ryzen 5 7600X3D for the AM5 platform in the near future.

The Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs, based on the Zen 5 architecture, are anticipated to bring notable enhancements, including full overclocking support, increased LLC counts, and improved efficiency compared to existing Zen 5 models. This upcoming release is expected to be a major advancement for gaming enthusiasts, offering significant performance gains over the current lineup.
