AMD has just announced its new Ryzen 9 5980HS processor for gaming laptops at CES 2021, and it is the first time we have spotted it on Geekbench. The AMD Ryzen 5000 mobile processors are great for gaming and it is evident from the amazing Zen 3 architecture we’ve seen with the desktop line of processors.
We do still have the Ryzen 5000HS processors with 35W TDP and normal H series with 45W TDP. So, among the HS series, the AMD Ryzen 9 5980HS is the top-of-the-line APU with all 8 cores and 16 threads along with 3.3 GHz base and 4.8 GHz boost clock speeds.
Thanks to @TUM_APISAK, we have the Ryzen 9 5980HS processor on Geekbench scoring 1532 points in single-core whereas making 8219 points in multi-threaded performance. This performance in multi-core even beats the AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 4750G desktop processor or even the Core i7-10700.
Whereas in the single-core, the Ryzen 9 5980HS edges out with the Intel Core i7-11370H, and the higher boost frequencies shall help in gaming a lot in all the upcoming processors. We cannot wait to test out these new gaming processors in action; an exciting year lies in & ahead of 2021!!
