AMD has taken no chance to announce that they are the first to make a 5nm based PC processor in the market at the Computex 2022 keynote. As it already previewed in CES 2022, AMD has officially unveiled the AMD Ryzen 7000 series based on the new Zen 4 architecture which is said to bring significant performance uplifts this year.

The Red team has also confirmed 2X bigger (1MB) L2 cache per core and Max Boost over 5 GHz. In addition to the new “Zen 4” compute dies, the AMD Ryzen 7000 series features an all-new 6nm I/O die. You see there is a new heat spreader covering two 5 nm Zen4 core chiplets and one 6nm I/O.

The new I/O die includes AMD RDNA™ 2-based graphics engine, a new low-power architecture adopted from AMD Ryzen mobile processors, support for the latest memory and connectivity technologies like DDR5 and PCI Express® 5.0, and support for up to 4 displays.

While there is no clear room to add a third chiplet into the processor but as we know AMD has its 3D chip stacking technology that will allow them to punch chiplets over another. Today, they talked of maxing out to 16 cores and directly compared with Core i9-12900K but I am sure they will eventually increase cores at launch as Intel’s Raptor Lake gets announced.

As the new AMD Ryzen 7000 processors will use a new AM5 socket the increase in TDP, utilizing up to 170W will be a significant change to keep up with Intel’s upcoming 13th Gen. As confirmed by Dr Lisa Su, the new AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors are officially set to launch this fall and more announcements will be coming in until it launches finally to the market.

Obviously, AMD will access the situation, and increase stock at launch and we suspect much like what it did with Ryzen 5000 series, a September to October release with Radeon 7000 series GPUs is expected more or less.
