It seems finally PC builders have some good news as, for the first time, the prices of AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors have dropped in the last couple of months. The never-ending price rising curve is finally going down, but for the 8-core Ryzen 7 5800X only as of now.
Launched at $449, in our review, we said the CPU was a bit overpriced, and now when 11th Gen Intel Rocket Lake-S CPUs are already available at cut prices, AMD had to reduce pricing. Previously, getting an 8-core CPU was a costly affair; however, you have plenty of options these days from both AMD and Intel.
The most efficient and powerful 8-core CPU though currently has to be the Ryzen 7 5800X and now you can get it for $429 from Amazon: https://amzn.to/3eg3z2u
It makes sense for AMD to finally reduce prices, as they might be planning to bring some new CPUs or cut Intel sales. The smart thing that Intel did is having to know that Rocket Lake is not as good as AMD’s Ryzen 5000; they have significantly lowered their pricing, the Intel Core i7-11700K is available for only $384.99.
