AMD is set to introduce a new Zen 4 product under its V-Cache moniker, with the Ryzen 5 CPU known as the Ryzen 5 7600X3D. It comes on the heels of AMD’s recent unveiling of its Ryzen 9000 “Zen 5” Desktop CPUs.
With all eyes poised at the next-gen Ryzen 9000X3D series, AMD is also doubling up efforts to bolster its mainstream V-Cache offerings with support across both the current Ryzen 7000 family and the previous Ryzen 5000 lineup. The Ryzen 5 5500X3D, a Zen 3 3D V-Cache chip for the AM4 platform, is already on the way, and now AMD is adding a new AM5 SKU to its Ryzen 7000 lineup.
The All New AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D
Hoang Anh Phu reports AMD is working on the Ryzen 5 7600X3D, which should be a more affordable implementation of V-Cache within its Zen architecture Expected to be positioned below the Ryzen 7 7800X3D in performance flashdata. The Ryzen 5 7600X3D is expected to be a single-CCD-based configuration which means the CPU will offer up to 6 cores lifted from their Zen4 architecture featuring the brand new V-Cache technology.
This configuration is expected to have 64 MB SRAM and it will go with another CCD’s dedicated 32MB L3 making a total of +96MB. The chip will also come with 6 MB of L2 cache (1 MB per Zen 4 core) for a combined total of 102MB just 2 MB less than the Ryzen 7 7800X3D.
The Ryzen 5 7600X3D is expected to be in the range of $249 USD by price, as today’s Ryzen 5 7600X CPUs are currently selling for about $200. This should be in early September, with the Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs landing sometime during October. The launch strategy seems to indicate that we will see a wide variety of 3D V-Cache offerings from AMD for both AM4 and presumably their upcoming AM5 platform, with CPUs targeting the full spectrum catering to a wide range of consumer needs.
