AMD’s Ryzen 5 7600X six-core CPU engineering samples are now being sold by someone in China. However, you can now find one if you want to possess a Zen 4-based engineering sample CPU before it is released. It operates at lower clock speeds than retail models.
The chip is now offered by Goofish for 9999 CNY ($1217 without VAT) (h/t to @9550pro). Although the CPU’s official model number is not inscribed on it, it does have the OPN code 100-000000593-20, which corresponds to the Ryzen 7 7600X. (at least according to previous leaks).
The main disadvantage of this engineering sample is its maximum frequency of 4.40 GHz, which is 300 MHz lower than the retail model’s claimed 4.7 GHz maximum turbo clock. Early engineering samples frequently have lower clocks, but potential defects might be a significant issue with early engineering samples.
AMD’s Ryzen 7000-series “Raphael” processors and supporting platforms are just weeks away.
However, such individuals should be aware of potential problems with early samples that are in any case not intended for commercial PCs.
The vendor asserts that the CPU is operational and offers to direct the purchasers to an AM5 motherboard before the latter’s official release in September. We can only speculate as to the motherboard’s price given that the seller wants to charge quite a bit for this processor.
