AMD has officially announced the Ryzen 5 7500F CPU, a 6-core Zen 4 processor priced at $179 USD. The AMD Ryzen 5 7500F Desktop CPU leaked earlier this month, and we got to see some benchmarks in a follow-up, but the firm has now officially announced the chip, along with reviews from Asian tech sources. Regardless, this chip is a global variety that will be available on store shelves from 24th July.
The AMD Ryzen 5 7500F Desktop CPU “100-000000597” has six cores based on the Zen 4 core architecture, twelve threads, six megabytes of L2 cache, and thirty-two megabytes of L3 cache.
The CPU is clocked at 3.7 GHz base and 5.0 GHz boost, which is 100 MHz slower than the Ryzen 5 7600, and it has a 65 Watt TDP. The CPU will be priced at $179 US, making it the cheapest Ryzen 7000 AM5 CPU on the market thus far, and will come with an included Wraith Stealth CPU cooler that matches nicely with its budget style.
Aside from the somewhat lower clock speeds, one of the significant differences of this chip is the absence of the iGPU. All AMD Ryzen 7000 CPUs include a Radeon 710M iGPU with two computing units, but not the Ryzen 5 7500F. This chip lacks an iGPU, but given that the majority of users would be utilising a discrete GPU anyhow, it makes sense.
In terms of overall performance, the AMD Ryzen 5 7500F is nearly equivalent to the Ryzen 5 7600 and provides up to 95% of the performance of the Ryzen 5 7600X at a substantially lower cost. It also operates cooler and consumes less power, both of which are advantageous for low-cost designs.
QuasarZone, a Korean outlet, reviewed the chip and discovered that it gives the same identical performance as the Ryzen 5 7600 in games while drawing less than 70W total power. At $179, the AMD Ryzen 5 7500F should be quite competitive versus the Intel Core i5-13400 and i5-13500, both of which retail for roughly $200 in the United States. This is a chip that should make the AM5 platform more appealing to budget builders, and we can’t wait for AMD to provide additional options in the sub-$200 range.
