Today marks the availability date for AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT and while we haven’t got the cards in our hands, what we did actually get is the leaked ray tracing scores of the GPU. Videocardz has shared a slide from AMD’s internal database that shows the GPU’s ray tracing performance.

The first time, with RDNA2 architecture, AMD is introducing a new core type called Ray Accelerator. So, each Compute Unit offers one RA, so the RX 6800 XT has 72 Ray Accelerators in total, and AMD expects this implementation to offer 10X ray tracing intersection performance compared with software implementation.

However, in the leaked slide, we see AMD showing five games with Ray tracing enabled at 1440p. The Radeon RX 6800XT in Battlefield V offers 70 frames per second on average while in Call of Duty MW its about 95 FPS, and both games running at Ultra DXR quality.

On the other hand, in Crysis Remastered, we see an average of 90 FPS, and in Metro Exodus, only 67 FPS were measured with DXR on. In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the RX 6800 XT offers 82 FPS on average at 1440p resolution. These tests were said to be done with Ryzen 9 5900X platform & 16GB DDR4-3200 memory at Ultra settings.

The Red team is also in works to bring the new AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution to effect, a NVIDIA DLSS alternative for AMD GPUs that artificially upscale the image using deep learning algorithms.
