We already know that AMD has surpassed Intel in terms of CPU performance and is already proving itself in the server market. However, the truth remains the same, that Intel is dominant in the PC market.

The Blue Team has a lead over its rival in the overall CPU market share, and the lead difference is extravagant. According to the latest chart, which Master Lu posted, Advanced Micro Devices have topped both the desktop processor performance chart and laptop processor performance chart with the Ryzen Threadripper 3990X and Ryzen 9 5900HX.

However, the chart is still not completely valid, because the data is based on units with 5,000 or more test results. Coming to the chart, the monstrous 64-core AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X leads the desktop chart by a huge margin but could be threatened by the Ryzen Threadripper Pro 3995WX.

According to sources, the TR 3990X is +34.34% ahead in terms of its rival, the TR 3970X. The 64-core AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X also has a +61.50% lead in front of the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X and an astonishing +86.93% ahead of the best-performing competitor from Intel, the Intel Core i9-10980XE.

It is also indicated that in the desktop CPU chart, AMD occupies up to six of the top 10 positions, with Intel’s new Rocket Lake part i9-11900K manages the ninth place, and the laptop processor performance table sees Team Red occupy eight out of the top 10 places.

AMD’s Ryzen 5000 Zen 3 chips take the top places, with the Ryzen 9 5900HX leading the charge. However, Intel’s Tiger Lake-H parts i7-11375H and i7-11370H manages to keep up a decent performance against its rival. The score difference percentage between the Ryzen 9 5900HX and Intel Core i7-11375H is a considerable +23.24%.

However, coming to the desktop CPU chart for sales, Intel leads the race with a huge margin. The Q1 2021 processor market share is revealed at 24.49% for AMD and 75.51% for Intel. though AMD improved its market share by +2.61% from Q4 2020, there remains a fact that it has a long way to go before reaching at least near to Intel’s market share.
