AMD’s Ryzen AI 300 APUs from the Strix Point and Krackan Point series have been detailed, with 8-core models primarily reserved for mainstream or “PRO” variants. There has been some confusion earlier about how AMD was going to stack its Ryzen AI 300 APUs but a new piece of info clears up the situation.

Krackan Point

The All New AMD Krackan Point 8-Core APU

These incarnations were spotted on Geekbench and we can take a look at their data now, thanks to a listing by the Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360 APU. We initially thought that it could be a part of the Krackan Point series but now, as per a new leak from Golden Pig Upgrade on Weibo, it will indeed belong to the Ryen AI 7 APUs and not the PRO models of the Krackan series.

To be clear, Krackan Point APUs from AMD will have a maximum of 8 CPU + 8 GPU cores along with the Ryzen AI 7 versions. You can identify the Ryzen AI 7 Pro 360 APU as it is an 8-core version and making it not a Krackan at all —, also because of its 12 Compute Units, which are special to select Strix Pro SKUs. A separate leak also notes that AMD’s Strix Pro lineup tops out at the Ryzen AI 9 HX Pro 375 APU, which will be exclusive to HP.

This offers it as fastest NPU in the market for what it claims 55 TOPS of AI compute power. This series will offer an 8-core configuration featuring a 4x Zen 5 and 4x Zen 5c combination, along with eight RDNA 3.5 Compute Units and up to 50 AI TOPS of computing power. Krackan Point APUs are expected to target more affordable segments, likely handhelds, and OEM devices.

AMD’s Ryzen AI 300 APUs serve as a preview of what’s to come, with the upcoming Krackan Point and Strix Halo APUs expected to offer significant power and better integration for both consumers and manufacturers. Despite the complex naming schemes, AMD’s Strix Halo and Krackan Point APUs are likely to debut in 2025, with CES being a possible launch window.
