AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution is now available for developers on GPUOpen, also on Unity & Unreal Engine

AMD’s new revolutionary upscaling technology has already made headlines in the tech industry as it is not limited to new GPUs or AMD GPUs only. This is why AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution is so special and having used it already we can tell you it is not the best but getting some extra boost in frame rates is always great to have.

So, the tech is limited to few games only as we said in our review of FSR, but as its implementation is very easy, soon we will have more games with FSR built-in. AMD has recently made the source code for its powerful spatial upscaling technology broadly available to game developers via GPUOpen.

This will genuinely help developers easily integrate the tech into their new games and even existing games, also, a wide range of them could be available using FidelityFX Super Resolution.

FSR is also now available for developers in two of the most popular game engines:

  • Unity: A special preview beta branch of Unity 2021.2 HDRP.
  • Unreal Engine: A patch that can be applied to v4.26 of Unreal Engine.

Now, getting integrated into two major game engines means the next generation of games will easily use AMD FSR and we could see a lot of games offering the tech at the launch itself.

Additionally, several new titles are adding FSR support in the next few weeks, bringing the total number of FSR-supported games to 12 since the feature was launched just a few weeks ago, with more expected in the coming months:

  • Arcadegeddon (July 16)
  • Necromunda: Hired Gun (July 16)
  • Resident Evil Village (next week)
  • Edge of Eternity (this month)
