Leak: A 64-core AMD EPYC 7773X to cost a whopping $8,800, Milan-X to launch tomorrow

Finally, Videocardz has brought a new leak that states AMD’s upcoming EPYC Milan-X processors, launched at CES 2022, will launch in the market officially tomorrow i.e. March 21st. These have the same Zen 3 cores, but Milan-X is AMD’s first data-center processor featuring 3D V-Cache that promises handsome performance improvements with minor changes.

As AMD wants to deliver the maximum to its shareholders it makes sense to launch more data center products with their latest technologies onboard. On the contrary, it has though neglected the consumer-centric products a bit which has resulted in Intel again gaining a bit of momentum with 12th Gen SKUs.

Leak: A 64-core AMD EPYC 7773X to cost a whopping $8,800, Milan-X to launch tomorrow

AMD to counter this has recently launched a wide range of budget CPUs and slashed prices of its existing Ryzen 5000 series processors. Now, it is reported that these new AMD EPYC 7003 “Milan-X” processors will be launching on March 21st and will feature four SKUs: 64, 32, 24, and 16-core options.

This includes the flagship CPU i.e. EPYC 7773X featuring 64 Zen 3 cores supercharged by 768MB L3 cache, which comes with a TDP of 280W and a whopping price tag of $8,800. As you see, all of these processors come with 8 CCDs and each of these chiplets is equipped with 96MB of L3 Cache (64+16MB).

Coming to the other SKUs, the 32-core SKU called the EPYC 7573X will cost you $5,590 while the more affordable 24 and 16 core models, known as EPYC 7473X and 7373X respectively will come with a TDP of 240W and will shed $3,900 and $4,185, weird pricing though.

However, these processors could be adopted swiftly by cloud and data centers that look to further provide customers with more horsepower and even for supercomputers that will genuinely benefit from increased cache.
