The Indian Premier League (IPL) media rights will be announced a few weeks after. Amazon Prime Video is definitely one of the major contenders to enter into this cricket’s circle.
The Amazon Prime video will live stream the test series between New Zealand and Bangladesh which starts from 1st January 2022.
Back in November 2020, Prime Video became the first streaming service in India to get the exclusive dealership from a major cricketing board. It is definitely, a multi-year deal. All the cricket matches for men and women from New Zealand (ODI, T20 and tests ) will be right there on the prime video.
Now, Amazon prime actually desires to get the IPL’s media Rights Tender, considering its huge fan following in India.
As per the source, “Amazon can surely bid. They are now cricket ready with streaming services around cricket. I don’t think so they will shy away from the IPL Bids”
BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly has stated that the IPL media Rights tender will be there very soon. the potential bidders will be definitely released before January. According to him, there’s a high possibility that the tender will fetch more than 40, 000 Crores for Indian cricket.
He added “12,000 Crore for sale of two franchises was phenomenal. Fingers crossed, we should get 40,000 crore plus from the IPL Media Rights. The tenders will be conducted soon by the BCCI”
Who are the potential bidders for the rights? The incumbent Disney Star Network, Sony, Reliance Viacom 18 and Amazon Prime Video are likely to be the potential bidders.
The Test series between New Zealand and Bangladesh will get streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
The first match will take played at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, Tauranga from 1-5 January, and the second test match in Christchurch is scheduled to commence on 9 January.
