Amazon Prime Day 2025 Becomes Tier 2-3 Success Story
The standout achievement was India’s smaller cities driving growth. With 70% of new Prime memberships coming from tier 2 and 3 cities, Amazon’s “Bharat enjoys Prime” vision became reality. These markets didn’t just participate – they led the charge with remarkable purchasing power and enthusiasm.
Small and medium businesses (SMBs) also celebrated their best Prime Day ever, with over 68% of participating sellers hailing from tier 2-3 cities and beyond. This democratization of e-commerce opportunities showcases Amazon’s expanding reach across India’s diverse landscape.
Lightning-Fast Deliveries Set New Standards
Amazon’s ₹2,000 crore investment in operations paid off spectacularly. Tens of thousands of products reached customers within 4 hours in tier 1 cities, while same-day deliveries doubled in metros. Even tier 2-3 cities enjoyed 1.8X faster deliveries within 2 days – a logistical masterpiece.
“Prime members purchased more items than any previous Prime Day shopping event,” said Akshay Sahi, Head of Amazon Prime India, highlighting the infrastructure success behind these numbers.
Category Champions and Brand Winners
Electronics dominated with AI-enabled laptops and premium tablets leading growth. Smartphones saw remarkable premiumization, with 60% growth in the ₹30,000+ segment driven primarily by smaller cities.
Fashion and beauty categories exploded with 2X growth in skincare and 7X surge in K-Beauty brands. Even fitness equipment sales surged 1.5X, reflecting Indians’ wellness priorities.
Standout performers included Bajaj’s Chetak electric scooters (No.1 bestseller), Atomberg’s appliances, and Amazon’s own Fire TV Stick ranking as the third most-purchased electronics item.
Entertainment Meets Shopping
Prime Video launched 17 highly anticipated titles, with Panchayat Season 4 achieving the franchise’s highest opening across 4,400+ Indian cities. The streaming content perfectly complemented the shopping festivities.
