A Sisajournal article (via @Tech_Reve) claims that Apple is planning to employ a new technology dubbed BRS, or Border Reduction Structure, in an effort to lower the bezel size on iPhone 16 models. A popular moniker for the technology is “Borderless.” The process of “rolling the copper wires at the bottom upward” helps create bezels that are narrower, particularly the chin bezel.

It is anticipated that the basic Apple’s iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models would maintain the same 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screen sizes. This should result in overall physical proportions that are less than those of their predecessors. However, it is reported that the iPhone 16 Pro variants would have displays that are 6.9 inches and 6.3 inches, respectively. This is consistent with previous reports that have suggested these increases.

All four versions will come equipped with BRS displays, though, not only the Pros. However, according to information that is now accessible, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will have screens that are identical to those of its predecessors (with the refresh rate staying at 60 Hz; an update to 120 Hz is planned for the iPhone 17 generation).

Remarkably, heat dissipation turned out to be a problem when it came to bezel reduction. Samsung, LG, and BOE, Apple’s three display vendors, have all agreed to implement Apple’s straightforward solution.
