All 15,000 tickets for India vs England second test match sold out within 60 mins

With the BCCI allowing fans in the stadium for the first time since lockdown, all 15 thousand tickets for India vs England second test match were sold out within sixty minutes of them going online.

After much discussion, the BCCI and the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association decided to allow 50 per cent spectators for the match which is to be held at the M A Chidambaram stadium. Out of the 33,500 available tickets, 15 thousand tickets were put up for sale.

“The tickets (for the second Test match between India and England) have been sold out. In less than an hour, around 10,000 tickets were sold,” RS Ramasaamy, Secretary of Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) told Moneycontrol.

Placing safety precautions for the public due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Ramasaamy also explained that the board has made necessary arrangement for sanitisers and temperature check systems. 

“We have 17 entrances to the stadium, and we are going to have people manning them with hand sanitisers and temperature checks. Plus, a mask is mandatory. There are medical kiosks on the ground. In addition, we have an isolation room, medical room and we have four ambulances placed on the ground,” Ramasaamy explained.

The TNCA revealed that out of the 15 thousand tickets that were available, about four thousand were blocked for members and only 10 thousand were on sale for the public. The range of the tickets fell between Rs 100 and Rs 200. 

India lost the first Test of their four-Test series vs England in Chennai. While acknowledging England’s dominance during the game, Indian captain Virat Kohli asserted that there will be no impulsive reactions from his team after a big loss to start off the series. He also admitted after the match that England were more professional and consistent than India.

The redemption of online tickets for the second Test will be from 10.00 a.m. on February 11, 2021, at Booth No.3 located on Victoria Hostel Road.
