Alice Capsey Shines: Before Alice Capsey anchored the innings with a brilliant display of clean hitting during the 2025 women’s tournament, cricket analysts in India and the UK were left wondering if the Oval Invincibles’ top order could deliver under pressure.
That conversation changed dramatically on 16 August 2025 at Sophia Gardens, where Capsey put on an impressive show against Welsh Fire. The talented all-rounder reached her fifty off 42 balls, showcasing her calculated aggression, which played a key role in helping the Oval Invincibles chase down 117 runs for a six-wicket victory.
This game significantly shifted the momentum in the women’s Hundred standings. Before the match, Female Cricket highlighted that Capsey had scored 91 runs over three innings, hinting that a breakout performance was overdue.
That breakthrough came in style, as she also took two important wickets and smashed seven boundaries along with a six. On the other hand, ESPN Cricinfo noted that Sophia Dunkley fought valiantly for Welsh Fire, scoring an impressive 56 off 41 balls, but her efforts weren’t enough to secure a win.
