Liverpool have made progress in negotiations with Alexis Mac Allister for a transfer this summer. The Argentine is set to leave Brighton at the end of the season, and the club have made arrangements to let him go.

It will be an expensive move, but Liverpool are eager to get it over the line before facing much competition. Other clubs like Chelsea are interested in the player, but have not made any advances towards signing him.

The World Cup winner has been pivotal to both Argentina’s and Brighton’s success this past year. He has scored 10 goals and provided one assist in the Premier League this season, and has set himself up for a move to a big club for certain.

Merseyside seems to be where the 24-year-old will end up, in order to solve the club’s midfield crisis. This season, Liverpool have been underperforming massively, and are almost certain to miss out on Champions League football.

While Brighton will also be playing Europa League football next season, the likelihood of Liverpool playing in the Champions League is much higher in the near future than the Seagulls. As a result, the step up will be for the long-term.

Details between the two clubs are yet to be discussed such as the transfer fee. Brighton could also lose Moises Caicedo alongside Alexis Mac Allister this summer. They have agreed a transfer with James Milner, and Mahmoud Dahoud as reinforcements in midfield.
