Airtel, Blinkit launch 10-minute doorstep SIM delivery service for ₹49 across 16 cities with self-KYC activation

It is available for new customers as well as those switching to Airtel from other telecom providers using Mobile Number Portability (MNP). The SIM is activated after verifying using Aadhaar-based self-KYC authentication immediately after it is delivered, thus not requiring physical documents. To ensure a smooth process, Airtel requires SIM cards to be activated within 15 days of delivery. It has been rolled out in Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Sonipat, Ahmedabad, Surat, Chennai, Bhopal, Indore, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Lucknow, Jaipur, Kolkata, and Hyderabad.

Albinder Dhindsa, Founder and CEO of Blinkit, highlighted the ease of the new offering, stating, “Blinkit handles the delivery, while Airtel makes it easy for customers to complete self-KYC, activate their SIM, and choose between prepaid or postpaid plans.” Airtel has also made an online video guide available for customers for the activation process. They can also get help through the Airtel Thanks app call the dedicated helpline at 9810012345.

This initiative underlines Airtel’s commitment to improving customer experience through the combination of speed, digital convenience, and minimum paperwork. This also comes as another big move by the quick commerce player Blinkit, which had also recently extended rapid delivery of gadgets in its portfolio, including Apple iPhone, iPad, Mac, and select Xiaomi smartphones, Nokia feature phone, as well as PC accessories. With this partnership, Airtel and Blinkit aim to redefine SIM card delivery and activation by making the process faster, simpler, and more user-friendly for mobile customers.
