On September 2 and 5, the Indian football team will play back-to-back friendly in Nepal. Igor Stimac named the 25-man roster on Monday, a day after the Indian men’s senior national team beat Mohammedan Sporting 2-0 in an exhibition match at the VYBK on Sunday. The head coach of the Indian football team has warned his side to be cautious in their next two matches.
The team’s exhibition match versus Mohammedan Sporting was played in torrential rain, with the intensity picking up in the second half. Igor Stimac described the conditions as “very difficult,” and predicted that the ATK Mohun Bagan and Bengaluru FC players would be better prepared to deal with them.
After ten days of preparation, Stimac stated that we shouldn’t anticipate much. We need to slow down and refresh the guys because their legs are still heavy from the load. He also stated, “I am pleased with how our players competed.” They should have scored a couple of goals a lot sooner. But it wasn’t simple in the midst of a torrential downpour and a high pitch.
The ATK Mohun Bagan players will report to the camp in Kolkata tonight, while the BFC players will arrive in New Delhi on the 29th evening. The Blue Tigers will depart for Nepal the next day, on August 30.
The National Team likely has been practicing in Kolkata since August 15. The National Team had not tented in Kolkata in 15 years, with the Blue Tigers having done so before the FIFA World Cup Qualifier versus Saudi Arabia in 2006.
