Aditya Roy Kapur Rumor vs. Reality: Quick Facts

Aditya’s Witty Response

When approached about the exit rumors, the Night Manager star responded with his trademark humor and charm. “The only place Mohit and I have been meeting is on the cricket field where I’ve been getting him clean bowled! So, no role is going to be coming my way from there. The news of me opting out of his film is totally false,” Aditya clarified, adding a playful cricket reference that perfectly captured his relaxed approach to the media frenzy.

Mohit Suri Clears the Air

Director Mohit Suri also addressed the speculation during an exclusive interview with Bombay Times. The filmmaker stated firmly, “I meet Aditya Roy Kapur and Shaad Randhawa to play cricket. We hang out together. Aditya is a close friend of mine, but we haven’t met for work at all.”

He further clarified that his current script isn’t even ready yet, and no casting discussions have taken place. “The script that I am working on is not even ready, and no discussions have happened on the same. The script that I am writing isn’t for Aditya Roy Kapur. I will reveal everything once my script and cast is in place,” Suri explained.

The Aashiqui 2 Legacy

The speculation about their reunion naturally generated interest considering their remarkable history together. Aashiqui 2 (2013) became Aditya’s breakthrough film, establishing him as a romantic hero while the film’s soulful soundtrack became a cultural phenomenon. Songs like “Tum Hi Ho” and “Sunn Raha Hai” continue to dominate playlists even today.

Their second collaboration, Malang (2020), showcased Aditya in a darker, more intense avatar alongside Disha Patani, proving their versatility beyond romantic dramas. The action thriller was well-received and demonstrated their ability to explore different genres together.

Mohit’s Current Success with Saiyaara

While rumors about future projects swirled, Mohit Suri’s latest release Saiyaara has become a record-breaking blockbuster, earning over ₹500 crore at the worldwide box office. The film launched newcomer Ahaan Panday (son of Chunky Panday) and featured Aneet Padda as the leading lady.

The massive success has positioned Mohit Suri as one of Bollywood’s most in-demand directors, with his next project being bankrolled by Akshaye Widhani, who also produced Saiyaara. For more on Mohit Suri’s filmography, visit his IMDB profile.

Why the Rumors Started

Sources suggest the speculation began because of the duo’s strong friendship and their track record of successful collaborations. Additionally, Mohit Suri is known for developing musical romantic dramas—a genre that suits Aditya’s on-screen persona perfectly. However, as both have clarified, friendship doesn’t automatically translate to professional partnerships.

Industry insiders also noted that misinterpretation of casual cricket meetups and social hangouts led to assumptions about professional discussions, highlighting how easily innocent interactions can be misconstrued in Bollywood’s rumor-heavy environment.

Aditya’s Recent Work

Aditya Roy Kapur was last seen in Metro…In Dino (2025), directed by Anurag Basu. The film received mixed reviews at the box office. The actor continues to explore diverse roles across genres, from romantic dramas to intense thrillers, establishing himself as a versatile performer.

The Takeaway

This episode serves as a reminder that not every rumor in Bollywood is based on fact. Both Aditya Roy Kapur and Mohit Suri handled the situation with grace and humor, proving that strong friendships can withstand media speculation. While fans would undoubtedly love to see them collaborate again, any future partnership will happen organically when the right script comes along—not because of premature media reports.

Until then, they’ll continue meeting on the cricket field, where Aditya will keep clean bowling Mohit—a far more entertaining story than any fictional film exit!
