This year, Adidas and Microsoft collaborated on three pairs of shoes to commemorate Xbox’s 20th anniversary, and the final shoe from that collaboration has been officially revealed. Unlike previous releases, the Forum Tech Boost Series X shoes are available worldwide, with Adidas and other retailers offering discounts, and are currently available for $140 on Microsoft.com.
The silhouette is a bold start in jet-black, amplified further with pops of neon green and tech-driven details, inspired by the fastest, most powerful Xbox console ever, the Xbox Series X.
With black netting and a green liner inside that’s comparable to the Xbox Series X’s fan vent, and a sphere Xbox logo on the side that’s drawn from the Elite controller, the entire design and colouring is meant to resemble Microsoft’s current flagship system.
The Xbox edition shoes, like other Tech Boost colorways, include a translucent sole, which Microsoft claims is a nod to the company’s recently introduced translucent 20th Anniversary Xbox controller.
The company drew additional design inspiration from the Xbox 20th Anniversary Wireless Controller Special Edition to pay homage to the anniversary in a unique way. The shoe has a green heel and translucent sole that matches the controller’s grips and draws directly from the controller’s shell. A small Xbox 20th Anniversary logo is tucked inside the sock liner as a final touch to commemorate this milestone.
Even if you don’t want a mini-fridge, Xbox-branded Adidas, or a walk down memory lane with Xbox, you should set aside some time to watch Power On The Story of Xbox, a surprisingly extensive look back at Microsoft’s gaming endeavours that is available for free on YouTube and other platforms.
