Adidas and Nike are the two largest sportswear manufacturer in the world. There’s always been a sense of rivalry among these two. They have never been on the same page before but the tragic death of George Floyd has brought these two sportswear giants on the same page.

George Floyd, a 46-year-old African American man was choked to death in police custody in Minneapolis on 25th May. A police officer kneeled down on the back of his neck while he repeatedly called for help saying “I can’t breathe”.

The video has gone viral and has caused outrage in the whole of America. Not only America but the whole world has also poured in their support for George Floyd. The #BlackLivesMatter movement has once again become the talk of the world.

Nike has posted a video on their Twitter account, titled “Let’s all be part of the change. #UntilWeAllWin”.

In that video, Nike changed their tagline from “Just Do It” to “For once, Don’t Do It”, calling out to the white people to stop racially abusing the black people.

“Don’t pretend there’s not a problem in America. Don’t turn your back on racism. Don’t accept innocent lives being taken from us. Don’t make any more excuses. Don’t think this doesn’t affect you. Don’t sit back and be silent. Don’t think you can’t be part of the change. Let’s all be part of the change.”

Adidas has shared Nike’s video tweet with the caption “Together is how we move forward. ⁣
Together is how we make change.”

Nike and Adidas are together in this fight, keeping aside their rivalry. This is a great gesture which teaches us that nothing is greater than a life. For once and for all, this racial abuse has to stop and each one of us has a role to play in it. So, let’s all be part of the change.
