IFA 2019: Acer announces Swift 3 and Swift 5 notebooks with Intel Ice Lake CPUs & NVIDIA MX250 graphics
At the IFA 2019 which currently held in Berlin, a lot of OEMs and electronics giants are showcasing their new products and technologies. Acer is showing a lot of its products to its wide audience and among that the Swift laptop series is one of the most prominent ones.
The main highlight of both the Swift 3 and Swift 5 laptop series is the inclusion of 10th Gen Intel Ice Lake CPUs based on the 10nm process. Also, the discrete NVIDIA MX250 graphics helps the laptop series to deliver great performance in spite of having a slim and light profile as its made out of magnesium alloy chassis.
Both of the Swift 3 and Swift 5 laptop series comes with essential features such as Wi-Fi 6, Thunderbolt 3. The notebooks have a long-lasting battery with fast charge support that can offer up to 12.5 hours of battery. So let’s quickly dive into the specs of these two updated laptops series:
Acer Swift 3
- 14-inch FHD IPS display
- Up to Intel 10th gen Core i7-1065G7 Ice Lake CPU
- Iris Plus graphics along with discrete NVIDIA MX250 GPU
- Up to 16 GB RAM & up to 512 GB PCI NVMe SSD
- Wi-Fi 6 and Thunderbolt 3 ports
- Steel Gray and Millennial Pink color options
The Swift 3’s display sports thin bezels of 4.37 mm on three sides yielding an 84% screen-to-body ratio. Acer has its own suite of color enhancement technologies including Acer Color Intelligence and Acer ExaColor for life-like colors. The laptop is just 15.95 mm thin and weighs just 1.19 kg.
Acer claims to provide a battery life of up to 12.5 hours with support for fast charging. With just 30 minutes of charge, you can get up to 4 hours of usage. The Acer Swift 3 will be available from the end of September with a starting price of €799.

The Swift 5 is teased to be one of the lightest laptops in the world with just 990g weight. It has been made with lightweight magnesium-lithium and magnesium-aluminium alloy chassis. Previously Acer did really show us an Ice Lake-powered Swift 5 during Computex 2019
Same as its brother, the Acer Swift 5 offers up to 12.5 hours of battery runtime and with just 30 minutes of charge, the laptop offers 4.5 hours of usage. The Swift 5 houses a built-in fingerprint reader for Windows Hello-based login. The Acer Swift 5 will be available from the end of September with a starting price of €999.
