AC Milan trying to sign Naby Keita on a free transfer in June 2023

AC Milan are moving in to sign Naby Keita on a free transfer after his contract with Liverpool expires this summer. The midfielder is on his way out of the club, since his deal will not be extended. And the Rossoneri are now trying to sign him, after a similar move for Divock Origi a year ago. 

He showed a lot of promise when he made the move to the Premier League from RB Leipzig for €60 million. But, injuries and inconsistent form have hampered his progress in England. And now, he is in his final months at the club with an exit the most likely solution.

Keita has made 127 appearances for the club over the last five years, but most of them have been from the bench. There were offers for him during the January transfer window as well, but Jurgen Klopp blocked his exit due to the lack of options. 

The injury crisis at Liverpool has been very difficult to deal with this season. Moreover, the likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have been out of form. And Arthur, who was signed as a replacement, has also failed to feature for the team. 

RB Leipzig are also interested in bringing back Naby Keita to the Bundesliga. But as things stand, Milan are ahead in the race to sign him. The decision will remain up to the player since he could take up a new challenge, or return to familiar settings in Germany.
