The Bollywood rumour mill had been running hot for weeks. Imran Khan. Ashneer Grover. A biopic. Aamir Khan producing. It sounded too delicious to be true — and as it turns out, at least part of it isn’t.
Imran Khan has officially denied being part of any biopic based on the life of entrepreneur and former Shark Tank India judge Ashneer Grover. Speaking to Hindustan Times, the Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na actor said flatly: “I have not even heard of this project. This is not true.”
So where did the rumours come from? Simple — Imran’s recent return to films happened through a special appearance in Vir Das’s Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, a film backed by his uncle Aamir Khan. Fans connected the dots, assumed a bigger collaboration was on the cards, and the speculation snowballed from there.
What We Actually Know About the Ashneer Grover Biopic
After Imran’s denial, reports suggested that Aamir Khan himself may be starring in the film as Ashneer Grover, with Shraddha Kapoor reportedly roped in to portray his wife, Madhuri Jain Grover. Filmmaker and screenwriter Rahul Mody — known for Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar — is reportedly working on the project and is also involved in the casting process.

Aamir Khan’s Plate Is Already Full
Aamir Khan currently has multiple projects as a producer, including director Sunil Pandey’s upcoming romantic drama Ek Din, starring Sai Pallavi in her Hindi film debut alongside Aamir’s son Junaid Khan, and the multi-starrer period drama Batwara 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi.
The sheer scale of what Aamir is producing — and now potentially starring in as well — makes this one of the most watched pipelines in Bollywood right now.
Ashneer Grover — the controversial co-founder and former CEO of BharatPe who became a household name through his fiery personality on Shark Tank India — is the kind of larger-than-life character whose story practically writes itself. The real question now isn’t whether the biopic will happen, but who will ultimately bring that unforgettable energy to the screen.
