As per a new source, the new COD title from Sledgehammer Games is going to be named Call of Duty WWII: Vanguard and will take place partly in the time of 1950s. ModernWarzone, the YouTube channel is the source of the leak. It posted a video describing the 50s setting, which is going to be a part of a new alternate history timeline in which World War II remained after 1945.
“Per our sources, the 1950s leak that we had a while back, is still true — 100 percent — and what else is 100 percent true is that this entire game takes place in an alternate timeline where 1945 wasn’t the end of World War II. I don’t want to spoil any of the campaigns besides…World War II is not the World War II we know. This is going to take place in the 50s more than five years after. I can’t tell you when the game starts and when it ends, but I do know it will take place after the real-life events of WWII in parts.”
After ModernWarzone shared their latest report, Eurogamer also came into the scenario confirming partially and disputing others. According to Eurogamer, Call of Duty WWII: Activision is going to stick to this name. They said that the game will stick to a “traditional WWII setting.”
Eurogamer is obviously a reliable source but ModernWarzone provided the goods multiple times in the past and they look very much sure about the alternate 50s setting. Also, it has to be noticed that Eurogamer was trying to point out exactly what about the rumor not being “quite right” – even not being a full-on alternate timeline, could the 1950s come into play somehow? Activision has confirmed that a new premium Call of Duty will launch this holiday season, but any release date and the platforms are not yet announced.
