A look at the internal earnings of TSMC’s employees

Taiwanese Semiconductor Manufacturing Company is the world’s largest chip foundry and is currently reeking in the benefits of the semiconductor shortage which the world is currently facing. Recently TSMC made a new announcement where it disclosed the composition and salary of its employees. The median total salary of employees is about NT$1.81 million, or about RMB 419,000.

According to the report, president Wei Zhejiang has a salary of about 233 times the median, which is more than NT$420 million, or 97.7 million yuan. If you wonder what’s media, then it’s the number in the middle of a group of data arranged in order of size or the average of the two middle numbers. Therefore, it can be stated as the dividing line, dividing the data into the first half and the second half and representing the “medium level” of a set of data.

By the end of 2020, TSMC had 56,831 employees worldwide, including 38,456 supervisors, professionals, and assistants and 18,375 production line technicians. And since the semiconductor industry is a knowledge and technology-intensive industry, more than 80% of the TSMC executives and professionals have a master’s degree and above.

When it comes to workplace distribution, approximately 90% of TSMC’s employees are located in Taiwan and China. And the remaining employees have centred around Asia, North America, Europe, and other regions. In April this year, TSMC also announced that it adjusted the salary of all its employees.

From the reports which the company submitted, we found that in Taiwan the salary adjustment of its employees was about 3-5%, and in the mainland, it was about 7-8%, and the rest of the overseas had about 3-5%.

TSMC has been focusing more on improving the turnover of its company, and its common knowledge that it’s working more than 100% of its capacity to complete its orders. However, the company still pays more attention to the physical and mental health of its outstanding talents. After all, to ensure the company’s long-term and stable development, its employees’ aptitude is of top priority.
