A Divorce, a Disaster, and a Dream Cast — Korean Film ‘Typhoon’ Is Already the Most Exciting Announcement of 2026

Imagine a couple who show up at a funeral ready to announce their divorce — only to get swept up in a deadly typhoon and forced to fight for survival together. That’s the premise of Typhoon, the upcoming Korean disaster film that is quietly assembling one of the most intriguing casts in recent K-cinema memory.

Everything We Know About ‘Typhoon’ So Far

Why This Cast Has K-Drama Fans Buzzing?

Oh Jung Se’s agency Prain TPC confirmed on June 11 that the acclaimed actor has received a casting offer and is currently considering it positively. What makes this especially exciting for fans is the potential reunion — Oh Jung Se and Koo Kyo Hwan previously shared the screen in the beloved JTBC drama We Are All Trying Here, and their chemistry is already proven gold.

Han Ji Min, one of South Korea’s most respected leading ladies with a career spanning rom-coms to historical dramas, reportedly plays the female lead Jae Yi alongside Koo Kyo Hwan’s Jin Mo. The combination of these three names under one roof — or rather, inside one storm — is already generating serious buzz.

Korean cinema has long excelled at blending raw human emotion with high-stakes disaster scenarios, and Typhoon looks primed to follow in that tradition.

What Is ‘Typhoon’ About?

Director Lee Jung Ho’s Typhoon centres on a married couple who plan to announce their divorce at a funeral — only to find themselves thrown into a survival situation when a deadly typhoon strikes. Stripped of everything, the two people who believed they knew each other best are forced to confront the real truth of their relationship. It’s equal parts disaster film and emotional reckoning, which sounds absolutely devastating in the best possible way.
