A Couple Of Lies Netflix Release Date: A Sicily Vacation Turns Into A Twisted Game Of Trust

A dream getaway can unravel faster than you’d expect — especially when you’re living in a stranger’s home. Netflix’s upcoming Swedish psychological thriller “A Couple of Lies” turns a sun-soaked Sicilian house swap into a slow-burning nightmare, and it’s set to land on the platform next month.

A Couple Of Lies: Overview

What’s The Story About?

The series follows Helene (Frida Gustavsson) and Carl (Fares Fares), a couple from Stockholm’s archipelago who swap homes for a few weeks with Scarlett (Emma Appleton) and Adam (Jakob Oftebro) — a couple they’ve never actually met — in exchange for a sun-drenched villa in Sicily. What begins as a picture-perfect escape gradually spirals into something far more unsettling, as hidden secrets and betrayals surface, twisting the vacation into a game of surveillance, manipulation, and mistrust.

Who’s Playing Who?

Frida Gustavsson takes on the role of Helene, best known to Netflix audiences for playing Freydis Eriksdotter in “Vikings: Valhalla.” Fares Fares, who plays Carl, brings a strong Netflix pedigree from “The Decameron” and “A Day and a Half,” alongside major credits like “Chernobyl” and “Westworld.” Emma Appleton, cast as Scarlett, previously appeared in “The Witcher” and the limited series “Traitors,” while Jakob Oftebro, playing Adam, recently starred in Netflix’s crime thriller “Blood Sacrifice.”

The supporting cast includes Diarmuid Noyes, Magnus Krepper, Anna Bjelkerud, and Lars Väringer, rounding out the ensemble for this tense, character-driven thriller.

When Can You Watch It?

“A Couple of Lies” arrives on Netflix on October 30, 2026. A trailer is already up on YouTube, though it’s currently region-locked to Sweden and Norway.
