Google to rebrand Android TV as Google TV

Google has taken every sector in technology we could ever think of, its Android OS is used in almost billions of devices and is rapidly adapted to modern generation Smart TVs. The Android TV OS has been there for quite sometime now and with days its user count is keeping on increasing.

According to 9to5Google, soon the Android TV OS may be rebranded as Google TV and that is a rumor which cannot be taken lightly because of Google’s past records. The Mountain View giant has rebranded a lot of its previous products from “Android” tag to the “Google” brand to expand their ecosystem.

Products like Android Market was changed to Google Play Store, Android Messages was converted to Messages by Google, Android Wear OS to Wear OS and Android Pay rebranded to Google Pay.

Google to rebrand Android TV as Google TV

This is mostly because people have a clearer brand image when the name “Google” is included and so to reach more audience by building trust among the users is the main target of the company. It seems the company is shedding their previous naming pattern that includes Android XYZ, Made by Google to Google XYZ.

Another report too suggests Google’s plan to be true and they are making this move, even though there might not be a major difference in the OS. Also, it might be possible that the next version of Android TV might be rebranded, as we saw Google ditching its old naming pattern for Android 11.

New products like Stadia is known as Google Stadia, also they are rebranding some like Hangouts to Google Meet, keeping the “Google” branding. Initially, it was launched as Google TV as the first smart TV platform by the company and was then rebranded to Android TV and in 2020 we might see Google TV branding back again.
