NVIDIA reportedly announced the RTX 5090 ahead of an early-2025 launch that buyers widely anticipated. But the announcement, launch timing and leaked specifications remain unconfirmed in the available information. NVIDIA has not confirmed an official
Before the shortage: an anticipated early-2025 launch
The original story focused on a new NVIDIA graphics card expected in early 2025. That launch window has passed, but it was an expectation, not a confirmed release date. That distinction matters: it doesn’t tell us when the card actually reached stores or how many units were available.
The catalyst: NVIDIA says the RTX 5090 is not discontinued
The RTX 5090’s current supply problem doesn’t prove NVIDIA has ended the product. Digital Trends reported that NVIDIA says the card is not discontinued.
That statement clarifies the product’s status, but it doesn’t answer when buyers can get one. That’s the sticking point for prospective buyers. A product can remain in a company’s lineup while retail supply stays severely constrained, and the available information offers no confirmed restock date or quantity. Put simply, “not discontinued” doesn’t mean “readily available.”
Before and after: announcement versus availability
The story has shifted from an anticipated launch to a question of supply. This table separates expectations during the launch cycle from what’s known now. It also makes clear why a statement about product status may not help someone ready to buy.
| Detail | Before | As of October 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Product status | NVIDIA reportedly announced the graphics card | NVIDIA says it is not discontinued |
| Launch timing | Early 2025 was widely anticipated | No confirmed launch date is provided here |
| Specifications | Leaked details circulated | 32GB GDDR7 and a rumoured 512-bit bus |
| Not officially confirmed | No official | |
| Retail supply | Launch availability was anticipated | Severely constrained |
What happens next for buyers?
To make this a practical purchase, buyers need more than reassurance that the card remains in NVIDIA’s plans. They also need clearer retail-supply updates and an official
The next meaningful signal will be actual stock and official pricing—not another statement about the card’s status.
