New Cast Members Joining Season 7

What to Expect: Major Storylines

Mel and Jack’s Married Life

The newlyweds will finally be living their dream “farm life” in their new house, though it’s far from complete. The season picks up just hours after the finale, with no time jump.

Potential Baby Storyline: Marley, the pregnant teenager, may offer her baby to Mel and Jack for adoption, providing the couple with the family expansion they’ve longed for.

Doc’s Medical License Crisis

Doc faces his biggest challenge yet with his suspended medical license. Grace Valley plans to expand into Virgin River and wants to push Doc out to take over the clinic. With Hope’s support and creative solutions, Doc won’t go down without a fight.

Love Triangles and New Romance

• Brie’s Dilemma: Torn between Brady and Mike, with Mike proposing despite knowing about her affair
• Preacher and Kaia: Marriage might be on the horizon for the fire chief and beloved chef
• Charmaine’s Mystery: The twins’ storyline promises major drama

Season Performance and Future

Virgin River season 6 debuted as the number one English-language series, picking up 67.7 million hours watched in its first week. While experiencing a slight viewership decline, the show remains strong enough to secure its future.

Great News for Fans: Netflix officially renewed Virgin River for season 8 in July 2025, ensuring the story continues beyond season 7.

International Filming Adventure

For the first time, Virgin River is filming abroad, with scenes shot in Mexico for what appears to be Mel and Jack’s honeymoon. This marks an exciting expansion for the series that has primarily filmed in Vancouver since season 1.

Spin-off Series Update

The highly anticipated prequel spin-off appears to be on hold, with Callum Kerr (Everett) returning for season 7 flashbacks instead. However, showrunner Patrick Sean Smith hints at potential future spin-offs, calling it “a rich world with rich characters.”
