Heavenly Ever After Long-Awaited Confession: Nakjun Bares His Heart

Episode 7 opens with Nakjun (played by Kim Seonho) mustering the courage to finally express his feelings after weeks of silent longing. In a beautifully shot scene at Han River Park—under strings of fairy lights as the sun sets—he tells Somi (Jeon Somin), “I like you. Not as a friend, but as someone who wants to be by your side forever.” The raw vulnerability in his voice and the way he avoids her gaze, afraid of rejection, makes this one of the most heart-wrenching confession scenes in recent K-drama history.

Somi’s reaction is telling—she freezes, her eyes widening before filling with tears. But instead of answering, she quietly excuses herself, leaving Nakjun standing alone in the fading light. The scene cuts to her apartment, where she replays his words in her mind, clutching the handmade bracelet he gave her in Episode 4.

Somi’s Emotional Conflict: Why Can’t She Say Yes?

The drama masterfully peels back the layers of Somi’s hesitation in Episode 8. Through flashbacks, we learn that her past relationship left her deeply scarred—her ex-boyfriend, a fellow musician, abandoned her when she was diagnosed with a chronic illness. This betrayal explains why she’s terrified of letting Nakjun in, despite her obvious affection for him.

A pivotal moment occurs when Somi’s best friend, Jiyoung, confronts her: “You light up when he’s around. Why are you punishing yourself by pushing him away?” Somi’s tearful response—“What if he leaves too?”—reveals the core of her fear. Meanwhile, Nakjun remains patient, giving her space while silently hoping she’ll choose him.

The Almost-Kiss: A Moment That Shattered Fans

Just as viewers thought progress was being made, Episode 8 delivers a devastating twist. After a heartfelt conversation at Nakjun’s family restaurant, where Somi finally opens up about her past, the two share a quiet moment on the rooftop. As the city lights twinkle below, Nakjun reaches out to tuck a stray hair behind her ear—their faces inches apart. The tension is palpable, and for a second, it seems like Somi might finally close the distance.

But then—her phone rings. It’s her ex.

The way Nakjun’s expression falls as she steps back to answer the call is brutal to watch. The episode ends on this cliffhanger, leaving fans screaming at their screens.

Fan Reactions: Is #SomiJun Endgame?

Social media exploded after these episodes aired, with fans divided on whether Somi will finally take the leap or continue to self-sabotage.

Twitter: “Somi, SWEETIE, he’s literally perfect?? Give this man a chance!!”
Reddit: “That almost-kiss scene ruined me. The way Nakjun looked at her… I can’t.”
YouTube Reviews: “This is the best slow-burn romance since ‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha’!”

Conclusion

Episodes 7-8 of Heavenly Ever After delivered the emotional payoff fans have been waiting for, even if Somi’s answer remains unclear. With Nakjun’s patience wearing thin and her ex re-entering the picture, the next episodes promise even more heartache and (hopefully) romance.
