IPL 2025 Suspended: BCCI Meeting Underway to Decide League’s Fate
In a dramatic and unprecedented development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is currently holding emergency discussions to determine the future of IPL 2025. The decision comes amid escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan following the recent Operation Sindoor, which has severely impacted the cricketing calendar.
What Led to the Suspension?
The IPL 2025 season was already facing disruptions when the Punjab Kings (PBKS) vs Delhi Capitals (DC) match in Dharamsala was called off midway due to security concerns. Reports of attempted attacks by Pakistan near Indian cities close to the venue heightened fears, prompting the BCCI to reconsider the continuation of the tournament.
According to multiple sources, including the Press Trust of India (PTI), the IPL has been suspended indefinitely. However, the BCCI has yet to release an official statement, as they are consulting all stakeholders before making a formal announcement.
What’s Next for IPL 2025?
An informed source told Cricbuzz, “We should hear something definitive today. Under the circumstances, whether to continue with the league is the topmost point on the agenda.” The cricketing world awaits clarity as the BCCI weighs all options, including the possibility of a complete halt to the season.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that no emergency meeting took place on Thursday but assured that a decision would be made soon.
