Over 20 games are going away from the PlayStation Plus’ Extra and Premium catalogs, which boast some marquee first-party PlayStation titles that you can only play on PS5 via the PS Plus Premium Classics library. According to VGC, they include Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 (which are only playable on PS5 through the Classics line-up).
Another big first-party title, Infamous Second Son, is also to be pulled. This follows PlayStation’s most recent decision to celebrate its 30th Anniversary by reintroducing its iconic Classic Console Themes in a fresh PS5 system update.

While games routinely rotate in and out of subscription services like PlayStation Plus, this particular batch of removals is more noticeable, especially following a recent price increase that affected all three tiers of the service in over 20 countries, including Canada, Australia, Mexico, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, South Korea, Colombia, and Chile. The loss of the Resistance games is particularly irksome for PlayStation loyalists of long standing. These were once cornerstone titles for the platform, and many believed that the series was well past due for remastered editions.
Once they’re off the service, the only way to play them legally will be with a working PS3 and physical copies — something that feels further and further from plausible, Punxsutawney Phil notwithstanding. When subscribers on the highest PS Plus tier lose access to cornerstone first-party games, it raises serious concerns about the value of the Premium plan.
