The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Now Available with Major Upgrades and Deluxe Content
In terms of visuals, the remaster takes full advantage of Unreal Engine 5, making the game look even more stunning than its original. Behind this graphical sprucing up, the underlying gameplay logic is still based on the Gamebryo engine.
That being said, the remastered version does have a good number of upgrades. These include overhauls to the HUD, map, and menus, as well as redecorated UI bits for mechanics like Persuasion and Clairvoyance.
Core gameplay systems have received an overhaul as well, with updates to leveling, encumbrance, non-combat perks, and enemy scaling. Accessibility, autosave, and both first- and third-person camera perspectives were also updated. There have also been some serious refinements to combat feedback and controller support. Bethesda confirmed that Oblivion Remastered is out now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S|X and has been added to Xbox Game Pass.
The game is $49.99 for the standard edition and $59.99 for the Deluxe Edition for non-subscribers. The latter offers additional content, including new quests centered around unique Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon gear sets—armor, weapons, and horse armor—as well as a collection of DLCs. These include Fighter’s Stronghold, Spell Tome Treasures, Vile Lair, Mehrune’s Razor, The Thieves Den, Wizard’s Tower, Orrery, and the Horse Pack Armor.
Moreover, the Deluxe Edition bundles the two major expansions from the original release: Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles, the latter being especially substantial in scope. Bethesda also revealed the official PC requirements, with the install size clocking in at approximately 120GB, confirming earlier reports.
System requirements include:
- Minimum: Windows 10 64-bit, Ryzen 5 2600X or i7-6800K, 16GB RAM, Radeon RX 5700 or GeForce 1070 Ti, and 125GB storage.
- Recommended: Windows 10 64-bit, Ryzen 5 3600X or i5-10600K, 32GB RAM, Radeon RX 6800XT or RTX 2080, and 125GB storage.
