Alexa Plus is available on Echo devices, the Alexa mobile app, and web browsers. It can now carry on naturally flowing conversations, keeping track of the context of previous interactions so a user can pick up where they left off with ease. The AI assistant learns a lot from the users over time, you will be rewarding by its learning capabilities according to your entertainment choices, food preferences, and even weekly routine.
Following a pattern set by the latest iterations of the Echo, Alexa Plus allows users to create Routines with voice commands instead of having to go into the mobile app to set them up. A second main aspect of Alexa Plus is advanced multiroom music control, in which users can move music across rooms simply using their voices, such as with commands like “Play the music upstairs” or “Play music everywhere but don’t wake the baby.” It also improves video playback by allowing users to skip to direct scenes in Prime Video films.
For example, Alexa Plus works with Ring so that users can view up-to-date summaries of detected camera events on an Echo Show. It is also capable of parsing emails, manuals, and study materials to answer users’ queries, retrieve information, and even create events in the calendar based on the extracted data. When granted access, it can answer queries based on email content. Moreover, it allows users to book appointments or make reservations using voice commands, making day-to-day planning easier.
Alexa Plus is priced at $19.99 (approximately ₹1,743) per month, but Amazon Prime subscribers get it for free. It will launch first in the US in an early access phase, with users needing to sign up for access. Amazon has not yet confirmed its availability in India or other global markets. The assistant will be supported on Echo Show 8, 10, 15, and 21.
