Google Pixel 9a Renders Leak, Hint at Redesigned Camera and New Colors

The Google Pixel 9a is set to launch next month, with plenty of leaks and reports detailing key information in the build-up. Recently, we saw the official-looking renders of the phone’s covers, but today we get to look at some leaked renders showing the entire design and color options. Following the Pixel 8a which is coming May 2024, the Pixel 9a is likely going to be driven by Google’s Tensor G4 SoC.

The Pixel 9a is expected to be available in four colours Iris, Obsidian, Peony, and Porcelain according to a report by Android Headlines which has also shared the renders from the leak. Unlike the Pixel 8a’s visor-style camera island, the flat rear camera module is embedded into the back panel. The phone is rumored to measure 154 x 73 x 8.9mm, making it slightly larger than its predecessor.

The size increase is believed to accommodate a bigger battery, with the Pixel 9a reportedly featuring a 5,100mAh battery, the largest in any Pixel phone to date. That said, the phone could also get the 23W wired and 7.5W wireless charging support from the Pixel 8a. Internally, the Pixel 9a can be expected to draw power from Google’s Tensor G4 chipset along with the Titan M2 security chip for better security. The phone’s pre-orders are said to kick off on March 19, with sales estimated to begin on March 26.

The 128GB storage variant is reportedly set to be available for a start price of $499 (around ₹42,000). In terms of cameras, the Pixel 9a is tipped to feature a 48MP primary rear sensor, accompanied by a 13MP ultra-wide Sony IMX712 sensor. The front camera is also expected to house a 13MP sensor for selfies and video calls. Additionally, the phone is rumored to include an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, making it more durable. With these upgrades, the Pixel 9a could be a compelling mid-range offering in Google’s smartphone lineup.
