NVIDIA DLSS 4 Boosts Image Quality in RDR2 and STALKER 2

A new comparison video showcasing NVIDIA DLSS 4 Super Resolution highlights the significant improvements the new Transformer model brings to popular games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and STALKER 2.

After publishing a video showcasing improvements in Cyberpunk 2077, MxBenchmarkPC has returned with footage comparing the image quality of the new Transformer model to the older CNN-based upscaler in Red Dead Redemption 2. As for the most noticeable change in this open-world Rockstar game, plants flickering on the world is greatly reduced.

The improved Transformer model refines the vegetation’s quality, giving it a more polished and stable visual. Hair rendering has also improved, with more stability and less aliasing than previously. STALKER 2 also benefits from NVIDIA’s DLSS 4 with improvements in image stability, although this time tackling some of the vegetation shimmering you may have noticed with Red Dead Redemption 2. Overall these changes make the game appear more visually stable and polished improving the gaming experience entirely.

But DLSS 4 has more than just the Transformer model. Another big new feature is Multi Frame Generation, exclusive to NVIDIA’s new RTX 50 series GPUs. This feature will offer up to 8x performance boost compared to DLSS 3, allowing gamers to play the game with full path tracing with high framerates and resolutions. For instance, in Cyberpunk 2077 with Overdrive Mode enabled, path tracing runs above 120 FPS at 4K on an RTX 5080. This is impressive, considering the heavy demands of path tracing in any game.

DLSS 4 is set to officially debut on January 30th, and it will include an Override feature, allowing players to update to the latest version with any game that already supports previous DLSS versions. This update promises enhanced visuals and performance across supported titles.
