Vicky Kaushal’s much-anticipated historical drama, Chhaava, has shifted its release date, avoiding a direct clash with Allu Arjun’s pan-India blockbuster, Pushpa 2: The Rule. The makers have now announced that Chhaava will release on February 14, 2025, strategically aligning with the celebration of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti on February 19, 2025.

Why Chhaava’s Release Was Postponed-

Originally slated for a December 6, 2024 release, Chhaava was set to hit theatres just a day after the nationwide release of Pushpa 2: The Rule.

The immense hype surrounding Sukumar’s action-packed sequel, starring Allu Arjun, Fahadh Faasil, and Rashmika Mandanna, could have overshadowed the historical epic’s box-office performance.

By rescheduling to February, the makers aim to provide Chhaava a solo window at the box office, ensuring the spotlight remains on the Maratha epic. Additionally, this move spares Rashmika Mandanna from witnessing two of her films competing in the same release week.

What to Expect from Chhaava

Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan, Chhaava is a powerful retelling of the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the valiant Maratha emperor and son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Vicky Kaushal steps into the shoes of Sambhaji Maharaj, while Akshaye Khanna portrays the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, bringing to life their historic conflict. The title, Chhaava, meaning “lion cub” in Marathi, reflects Sambhaji Maharaj’s unyielding spirit and legacy.

The film is set to be a visual masterpiece, seamlessly blending history, drama, and powerful performances. Scheduled for a February release, it holds special cultural significance as it coincides with the celebration of Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary, adding a layer of historical and emotional resonance.

Pushpa 2 X Chhaava

Sukumar’s Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun as the iconic Pushpa Raj, is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated films of 2024. After the blockbuster success of Pushpa: The Rise, the sequel is expected to shatter box office records.

Recognizing the immense buzz surrounding Pushpa 2, the makers of Chhaava have strategically chosen to release their historical drama on a separate date, ensuring it avoids the box office storm that Allu Arjun’s magnum opus is set to unleash.

Chhaava Release Date

With its new release date, Chhaava has an opportunity to shine on its own, celebrating the legacy of one of India’s greatest historical figures. Fans can now look forward to February 14, 2025, when Vicky Kaushal brings Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s story to life on the big screen.
