Jamshedpur FC fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat against East Bengal FC in a tightly contested Indian Super League (ISL) clash at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan. Dimitrios Diamantakos’ lone goal in the 60th minute was enough for the Red and Golds to secure all three points.

Jamshedpur FC started the match with intent, showing resilience in defence and creating early chances. The Red Miners’ first significant opportunity came in the ninth minute when Stephen Eze’s perfectly weighted pass found Javier Siverio in the box. Siverio controlled the ball skilfully but his shot hit the side netting. Despite some promising buildup play, Jamshedpur struggled to convert opportunities into goals.
The game saw spells of end-to-end action in the first half, with both goalkeepers stepping up. Albino Gomes, Jamshedpur’s custodian, produced a string of crucial saves, including denying Cleiton Silva from close range and keeping out Anwar Ali’s thunderous long-range strike that struck the post.
ISL: East Bengal Edge Past Jamshedpur FC in a Hard-Fought Contest
The second half began with Jamshedpur FC showing attacking intent, pushing forward in search of the opener. However, it was the East Bengal who scored first. The breakthrough for the hosts came in the 60th minute when Dimitrios Diamantakos capitalised on a precise cross from Nandhakumar Sekar.
In response, Jamshedpur coach Khalid Jamil introduced Jordan Murray and Nikhil Barla in an effort to inject fresh attacking energy. The substitutes provided a spark, but East Bengal’s defence thwarted every attempt.
Jamshedpur threw everything forward in the closing stages, with their attacking waves testing the hosts’ resolve. Despite their best efforts, Jamshedpur were unable to breach East Bengal’s defence, leaving them frustrated at full time.
The defeat marked a missed opportunity for Jamshedpur to break into the top four of the league standings. Jamshedpur FC will aim to regroup quickly as they prepare for their next fixture, against Kerala Blasters FC at home on December 29th.
