Ambani Wedding, Bollywood Scandals, and Drama Ruled 2024

From love stories to controversies, and blockbusters to heartbreaks, 2024 has been an unforgettable ride. This year had it all — celebrity marriages and breakups, scandals, revelations, moments of cinematic brilliance. Here’s a look at some highlights:

Ambani’s Grand Wedding, Bollywood Scandals, and Global Stardom: 2024 Packed With Drama and Surprises

Star of the Year

In 2024 Diljit Dosanjh owned the year, and he erected the pillars of success that threatened to overshadow everyone. From being the first-ever Punjabi artist to grace The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to his record-breaking Dil-Luminati Tour across sold-out venues across the globe, Diljit was everywhere, making and breaking milestones.

The Grand Wedding

The Ambani’s held what might be called the year’s most extravagant wedding when Anant Ambani wed Radhika Merchant. Rihanna’s India debut came in March with a lavish three-day celebration in Jamnagar as the festivities kicked off. This was followed by a pre-wedding cruise party in Europe, which lasted four days and had 800 guests. The grand weddings ended with the wedding of international celebrities in Mumbai, including the Kardashians Kim and Khloe the Kardashians.

Breakups and Heartbreaks

Natasha Stankovic and Hardik Pandya publicly confirmed their split and said they would co-parent their son, Agastya. In another jarring development, Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman announced that he had separated from his wife Saira Banu after 27 years of marriage. His emotional note about struggles in relationships resonated widely.

Bollywood’s Drama

The Hindi film industry has been criticized for exorbitant demands of stars and production costs. Farah Khan’s remarks about the phenomenon of inflated vanity van and entourage expenses gave them wings, and with reports of unpaid dues for Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, the air was heavy with comments. There were also controversies like Kangana Ranaut’s clash with a CISF officer and Rishab Shetty’s criticism of Bollywood’s depiction of India.

South India’s Shocks

The #MeToo movement in the Malayalam film industry had a new wave when the Hema Committee report revealed rampant harassment. The fallout involved multiple FIRs and arrests, and some AMMA members also resigned.

Happily Ever Afters

The shine was taken over by surprise weddings. Sobhita Dhulipala had a traditional Telugu marriage with Naga Chaitanya, and Keerthy Suresh married his childhood friend Antony Tatthil. Tamannaah Bhatia-Vijay Verma also made their dating official and fans couldn’t be happier.

Cinema’s Milestones

Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine As Light triumphed internationally, earning Golden Globe nominations and a Cannes Grand Prix. Meanwhile, Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies became India’s Oscar entry, cementing 2024 as a year of cinematic triumphs for smaller films.
