Strong Opening Partnership

India got off to a strong start with Uma Chhetri and Smriti Mandhana putting together a 50-run opening partnership. However, Karisma Ramharack struck first, dismissing Uma for 24 runs. Following this, Smriti and Jemimah built a solid foundation with an impressive 81-run partnership before Smriti fell to Karisma in the 14th over. Smriti’s innings included two sixes and seven fours, coming off just 33 balls.

Building Towards a Big Total

Despite losing Smriti, Jemimah continued to dominate the West Indies bowlers, hitting two sixes and nine fours during her innings. Wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh added a quick 20 runs, but it was the partnership between Jemimah and Harmanpreet Kaur (13 runs) that propelled India to a competitive score. Jemimah was eventually run out on the fourth ball of the last over, but her explosive innings set the tone for India’s total.
