Lenovo Legion Go 2: Upgraded Performance and OLED Display

An updated version of Lenovo’s gaming handheld, the Lenovo Legion Go 2 will also have a detachable controller, just like the first. That indicates that Lenovo is preparing multiple versions of the handheld as it tries to establish itself in the burgeoning handheld gaming space. With the handheld now in the pipeline, the full details are evolving, but it’s said to deliver upgrades in performance as well as display having many of the hallmarks of the original model to preserve a unique identity.

Meanwhile, The Verge claims that the Legion Go 2 will be a large unit with an AMD Ryzen Z2 chip fitted while the Legion Go S, which is also in the works, will reportedly have a smaller form factor. The Ryzen Z2 being used in the new Legion Go is a Z2 Extreme variant based on Zen 5, as well, and features RDNA 3.5 graphics, whereas the Ryzen Z2 Extreme in the first Legion Go is based on Zen 3+ and RDNA 2.

As to what the Legion Go 2 will look like, it could visually be a departure from the original model while keeping the 8.8-inch screen with a 2560 x 1600p resolution. 9 It is also rumored to transition to OLED, with Lenovo potentially launching two Legion Go 2 variants depending on whether the panel utilizes OLED or LCD.

Detailed specs are scarce, but the Legion Go 2 should be faster than the original thanks to its newer architecture and Radeon 890M graphics packing in 16 Compute Units. Moreover, similar to other handhelds, the Legion Go 2 is expected to feature a larger-than-usual battery of around 80Wh. The Lenovo Legion Go 2 is anticipated to release in early 2025, but pricing details have yet to be revealed.
