MediaTek Dimensity 9400 processor introduces the first known benchmark scores for its GPU performance thanks to blogger Digital Chat Station, and it is expected to be announced next month.
MediaTek Dimensity 9400 GPU Hike
The leaked information illustrates the Dimensity 9400 Snapdragon proves to be better in GFX Aztec 1440P off-screen Vulkan Benchmark, which is among the widespread mobile GPU benchmarks. One of the tipsters posted a screenshot that shows the next MediaTek SoC scored 134fps. As a point of reference, the Apple A18 Pro is said to achieve 72fps, and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 hits 95fps.
According to MediaTek, Dimensity 9400 offers 86% speed improvement compared to the Apple A18 Pro used in the iPhone 16 Pro series and it is faster than the Snapdragon Gen 3 by 41%. The Dimensity 9400 features the latest Mali-G925-Immortalis MC12 GPU, coupled with a robust 3.63GHz Arm Cortex-X925 CPU. Additionally, rumors suggest it could deliver a 30% increase in GPU performance compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
ARM, the GPU manufacturer, claims that the Immortalis G925 is their “highest performance and most efficient GPU” to date. Compared to the previous G720 generation, it boasts a 37% improvement in graphics application performance, a 52% enhancement in ray tracing for complex objects, a 34% increase in AI and machine learning workload performance, and a 30% reduction in power consumption.
It’s a big lift in all areas. Although independent benchmarks will be required to verify these claims, that sounds promising. It, on the other hand, does have a 6-core GPU and is 20% faster than its predecessor A18 Pro from Apple. That’s a commendable effort, but it doesn’t align with the raw power indicated by Dimensity 9400.
Qualcomm and its Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will launch in October, but MediaTek has drawn first blood (to pun on an ARM potentially fatal pun) Gibson explains that the competition between mobile GPUs is hotting up, which makes it a good time for such as Dimensity 9400. It will be curious to see how the final products ultimately stack up.
