Reliance Launches JioTV OS and JioTV+: Advanced Features and Live TV Enhancements

The launch of the Jio Set Top Box comes with a brand new piece of home-grown software called as the JioTV OS by Reliance. An OS with an exhaustive feature set in modern home entertainment such as 4K UltraHD resolution along with Dolby Vision and compliant to work with Matter for smart homes. In addition, the company has a new live TV platform JioTV+.

The home screen of Jio apps including JioCinema, JioStore, and more from the carousel is instantly accessible directly through the home screen. Besides Jio apps, users will get support for popular OTT platforms including Netflix and Amazon Prime Video among others along with options to watch live TV channels and shows. The software supports 4K HDR content, with Dolby Vision for enhanced visuals and Dolby Atmos for superior sound quality.

Being compliant with the Matter standard, the JioTV Set Top Box ensures seamless compatibility with various smart home devices across different brands. This allows for local connectivity without needing the internet, and users can control all connected IoT devices using the JioHome app. The JioTV OS also integrates the Hello Jio voice assistant, enabling voice command control through the microphone button on the remote.

JioTV+, on the other hand, is a live TV platform that offers content from over 860 live TV channels in HD quality. It also provides on-demand shows and access to OTT apps like Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and Hotstar. Users can easily switch between channels and enjoy personalized content recommendations based on their viewing habits. JioTV+ includes convenient features such as Play-Pause, allowing users to pause and resume live TV, and Catch-up TV, which lets them watch missed shows from up to seven days ago.

For sports enthusiasts, JioTV+ offers live cricket match stats, the ability to purchase tickets and control over camera angles. Additionally, users can share what they’re watching with friends, discuss shows, and even host live watch parties.
