Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Testing Unit Spotted on Geekbench

Earlier, it was said that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 has been testing with different clock speeds. A leak from not too long ago depicted the SoC hitting 10,000 in Geekbench 6 surpassing Snapdragon Gen 3 by 46%.

Now, fresh Geekbench 6 results from the chipset’s reference design have surfaced, shedding some light on both single-core and multi-core performance. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Speed tests are lower than what we had reported before, even though the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is still superior to current-gen chips like A17 Pro.

More About the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Testing

The Geekbench 6 configuration reveals that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 features a ‘2 + 6’ cluster, detail mentioned in earlier reports. More information mentioning the chipset specifications and abilities continued ahead as dispatch approached. The reference design, for instance, is shown to score 2,884 on single-core and 8,840 on multi-core as per the leaked scores using 12 GB of RAM. Compared to the competition, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is slightly faster than the A17 Pro in multi-core performance but slightly slower in single-core performance.

Apple continues to dominate in the single-core benchmark runs of Geekbench 6, and it looks like when Qualcomm makes the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 official later this year, then the A18 that’s inside M5s will beat whatever they throw at people. The previous higher scores were probably by Qualcomm testing the SoC at a slightly faster clock speed, with rumors suggesting that the frequencies were set to 4.26GHz to achieve better performance levels from its opponent device.

Thermal concerns, though, led Qualcomm to drop its numbers slightly and alter the clock speeds of the performance cores. However, the results are pretty impressive. Now, it should be interesting to see how Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 performs under these conditions.

One of the more interesting comments to come from a notable tipster, says that if these numbers are correct then it means the Adreno 830 GPU would be able to reach peak performance in line with Dimensity 9300 while using roughly half as much power. If that is the case, 2025 Android flagships will be great contenders to take advantage of this advancement. As the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 prepares for its launch, we can expect more performance metrics to surface.
