Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ and S10 Ultra Set for August Production, Analyst Reports No Base Model Planned

Samsung is prepping to release a high-end tablet series in Q4 of this year. The Galaxy Tab S10+ and the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra are said to enter production next month, as per analysts. Notably, the news is all about these big models and there’s no word on a base version from panel suppliers anymore which leads us to believe Samsung wants to shift its focus onto those larger offerings.

This falls in line with previous rumors that Samsung could offer this rendition to cut costs, and phase out the base variant entirely.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ and S10 Ultra Production Begins

According to Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) founder and CEO Ross Young, the Galaxy Tab S10+ concept is expected to hit mass production in August for an October release alongside a Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. Among those commenters on social media are highlighting the absence of a vanilla Galaxy Tab S10 in these reports.

Young confirmed that there are no details about the base model’s panel or production, opening the possibility that Samsung might sell an entirely different tablet as its base model. This suggests the company is getting close to launching bigger models that could give a more premium experience with larger screens, batteries, and software features.

With Apple taking the crown as anticipated for some time now on tablet sales and Samsung tablets also experiencing a steady erosion of returns since their inception, it would seem that placing extra resources in a base model may just be bad business practice. As such, it would be cheaper and make more sense to simply relaunch for the Galaxy Tab S10+ and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra.

On the other hand, while it may retain its design identity for yet another year after launching last week you can expect to make out what we have learned and that Samsung is only expected to use MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300+ SoC prepared against Qualcomm flagship chips regardless of whether it was released in Galaxy S10 Ultra as a legion instead.

While the Dimensity 9300+ might be slower compared to Apple’s M4, it surpasses the likes of Snapdragon 8 Gen3 and may be more cost-effective as well. It remains to be seen if this will be a long-term partnership or if future tablets might feature more advanced chipsets like the Dimensity 9400.
