All About the Honor Magic V3
Honor says the Magic V3 is lighter than last year’s offering. It folds to 9.2mm (without a camera bump) and extends to just 4.35 millimeters when opened, making it weigh only about 226 grams. That drop in size brings the foldable phone close to par with a lot of slab phones. The brand claims that the device’s hinge is the thinnest to date at 2.84mm and is rated to last 500,000 fold cycles.
In comparison, the Honor Magic V3 includes an octagonal-shaped camera island on its back panel. It also features an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner built into the power button and a 7-series aluminum alloy frame. It is also certified for water resistance up to 2.5 meters as per IPX8 standards.
The main screen on the Magic V3 is a 6.43-inch panel with FHD+ resolution and curved edges. The inside is even more interesting, housing a 7.92-inch screen with a resolution of 2,344 x 2,156 pixels. The two screens also have a 120Hz LTPO refresh rate with Dolby Vision, HDR Vivid as well stylus support. The peak brightness on the device is allegedly 5,000 nits, but it’s not specified for which of its screens.
For photography, the Honor Magic V3 features a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP 1/1.56-inch main sensor with OIS, a 40MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 50MP periscope telephoto unit with 100x digital zoom and OIS. It also has 20MP sensors inside both the internal and external screens for selfies and video calls. According to Honor, the Harcourt Portrait mode will become available in August.
Honor Magic V3 is fueled by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. Despite its sleek appearance, the brand has added a titanium heat diffuser, which is said to help with thermal control. On the wired side, you get a 66W charger while wireless charging is supported at 50W. The foldable phone will be powered by a massive battery of about 5,150mAh. It is based on MagicOS 8 and has AI features like a smart private call. It even supports parallel space features and much more.
